Church History

The South Church was originally a Free Church, having been established in 1843 with the Disruption. It came into the United Free Church in 1900, and then as part of that body came into the Church of Scotland in 1929. The members are proud of their heritage and still believe that the evangelical spirit shown by those who 'came out' in 1843, has left a legacy worthy of continuation by those who succeeded the initial founders of the early Free Kirk.

A variety of ministries have been found in the South Church down the years and these ministers are listed separately under a sub heading located on this page.
